a smile was my umbrella
My nest is now fluffed. Finally! got out for a hike in the State Park.
The blockhouse was built in 1935, a historical replica of a fort; it was burned (arson) in 1962, and rebuilt in 1964. i'll never tell who dated one of the guys involved in that

c'mon in and check out the views

^my house is somewhere down there off to the right

this view is better is a season other than summer

^the slightly darker blue where the forested dunes make a top of a heart shape is Lake Michigan
remember the lack of view to the east? looks better from the ground as i begin a descent from the blockhouse. where the path lightens is a very big sand dune, hah, i went left and followed a deer trail instead

i found it!
Lost Lake
a small part of it anyway, and actually it's a coastal plain marsh; wanted to hike all around it but the rain started coming down harder. all that low brush in the foreground are wild blueberry bushes!
sassafras gives me a hand back up

the beach and channel are just down the road from the blockhouse, lovely ride home

oops got the windshield wiper

I'm a sucker for old forts, even replicas. Need to return in the fall for all the color.
@Botolf - oh yeah, i'll be in these 1100+ acres all seasons. the park even has a luge run, which i rode down in the 80's.
Thanks for the road trip and hike. Loved it!
Nice views of the area, beautiful even in the rain!
