seeing things

first fireflies of the year in my yard at dusk
fairy lights in the woodsdark midnight. oh. my. goshgollygeewhiz.
no streelights no big city orangch glare
it's been too long
bright wide fuzzy streak of the Milky Way across the sky
************************so.many.stars****************************
the only constellation i could pick out was ursa major
closer brighter than i can ever remember
big big dipperstealthy rustles in the woods
coyotes bobcats and bears
oh my

I remember catching lightning bugs as a young boy. I was always amazed at how they could emit a glow from their bodies. These days, while I no longer chase them, I still look for them as a sign that summer has arrived.
